Arrest Made for Shooting at 100 Block Sweetbriar Street

LAFAYETTE, LA (Jun. 10 2024) – A Lafayette man is under arrest following a shooting incident Saturday night.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 100 block of Sweetbriar Street just before 10:30 p.m. about a shooting in progress. One victim with non-life-threatening injuries was located at the scene and transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

Detectives identified Lester Diaz, 51, as a suspect in the shooting. Diaz was subsequently transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and booked for Attempted Second Degree Murder.
