Update
Lafayette, LA – Regarding the homicide that occurred on the morning of Wednesday, February 22, 2023. The victim has been identified as Abilio-Waldermar-Bravo-Lopez 27, of Lafayette, LA. Investigators have arrested the suspect responsible for the shooting, Johnnie Tolliver (B/M/31) of Lafayette, LA. He was arrested and booked on a warrant for first degree murder and attempted first degree murder. Mr. Tolliver was booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. It was later learned through further investigation that one other victim was shot as a result of the shooting that occurred. The victim was treated at a local hospital and expected to make a full recovery.
Homicide Investigation in the 200 block of Verdun Street

Lafayette, LA – Around 12:57 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to a shooting in progress in the 200 block of Verdun Street. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began rendering life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived. The victim was pronounced dead on scene as a direct result of his injuries.
Homicide investigators are currently on scene gathering information and piecing together the facts. More information regarding this investigation will be released at a later time.
