Suspect Arrested
LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 12, 2024) – Regarding the homicide on Monday, January 01, 2024, in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Drive. Investigators have arrested the suspect responsible for the shooting, Alvin Fitch, an eighteen-year-old black male from Lafayette, Louisiana. He was arrested and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on his warrant for one count of second-degree murder.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 1, 2024, 12:29 p.m.) – The victim of the early morning homicide has been identified as Brian Amune, thirty-five of Lafayette, Louisiana. Investigators with the Lafayette Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are actively and aggressively working leads, and more information will be provided when available.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 1, 2024, 5:09 a.m.) – On January 1, 2024, around 3:30 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to reports of shots being fired in the area of the 800 block of Martin Luther King Jr Drive. When officers arrived on the scene, one victim was located in the roadway, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are on the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
