UPDATE MULTIPLE ARRESTS: One Dead from Shooting on 400 East University Avenue

UPDATE

LAFAYETTE, LA (November 25, 2024) – Investigators with the Lafayette Police Department have made several arrests in connection with the homicide that occurred on November 9, 2024, in the 400 block of East University Ave.:

  • November 12, 2024:
    • Dylon Doucet (B/M/26) was apprehended and arrested on warrants for 2 counts of first-degree murder and 2 counts of attempted first-degree murder.
  • November 13, 2024:
    • Trevon Charles (B/M/26) was apprehended and arrested on warrants for 2 counts of first-degree murder and 2 counts of attempted first-degree murder.
  • November 14, 2024:
    • Deontre Spencer (B/M/25) was apprehended and arrested on warrants for 2 counts of principal to first-degree murder and 2 counts of principal to attempted first-degree murder.
  • November 18, 2024:
    • Jakari Phillips (B/M/24) was apprehended and arrested on warrants for 2 counts of first-degree murder and 2 counts of attempted first-degree murder.
  • November 22, 2024:
    • Dnedrick Wilson (B/M/25) was apprehended and arrested on warrants for 2 counts of first-degree murder and 2 counts of attempted first-degree murder.
    • Davontae Gardner (B/M/24) was apprehended and arrested on warrants for 1 count of first-degree murder and 1 count of attempted first-degree murder.

All suspects are currently booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

UPDATE

LAFAYETTE, LA (November 14, 2024) – Two suspects have been arrested in regard to the shooting incident which occurred at the 400 block of E. University Ave. On November 12, 2024, Dylon Doucet, a 26-year-old black male, was apprehended and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. On November 13, 2024, a second suspect, Trevon Charles, a 26-year-old black male, was also apprehended and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

The investigation is still ongoing.

UPDATE

LAFAYETTE, LA (November 10, 2024, 1:10 p.m.) – In regards to the shooting incident that occurred at the 400 block of East University Avenue, the deceased victims have been identified as Corey Mouton, 26, of Carencro and Jamir Carmouche, 24 of Lafayette, Louisiana. The two surviving victims are in stable condition and are recovering from their injuries.

Preliminary investigation details that on November 9, 2024, around 7:30 p.m., Lafayette Police Department Patrol responded to a shooting incident at 405 East University Avenue. It was determined that a shooting occurred outside of 405 East University Avenue, in which one of the victims appeared to be the intended target, this victim was pronounced deceased on scene. As a result of the initial shooting, three of the victims were struck by gunfire and appear to have not been targeted. This incident remains under investigation. An additional update shall be released once suspect information is determined and arrests are made.

UPDATE

LAFAYETTE, LA (November 9, 2024 (10:05 p.m.) – Regarding the shooting incident at the 400 block of East University Avenue, it was determined that four total victims were injured via gunfire during the shooting. One of the victims died on the scene. Three of the four victims were transported to a local hospital, where one more victim died. The two surviving victims are currently in critical condition. LPD Investigators are currently on the scene and working diligently to determine the elements that led to the shooting incident.

An update shall be provided regarding the deceased victim’s information following next-of-kin notifications.

LAFAYETTE, LA (November 9, 2024 (7:59 p.m.) – The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) currently on scene in the 400 block of East University Avenue about a shooting incident. Preliminary investigation has revealed that a shooting incident occurred in the 400 block of East University Avenue. As of now, three victims have been confirmed to suffer injuries as a result of said incident. A crime scene has been established and LPD Investigators have been called out to the scene to continue the investigation. More information shall follow as additional details are gathered.
