Lafayette, LA – On October 10th, 2023, The Lafayette Police Department Youth Services Investigators arrested one juvenile suspect concerning this shooting incident. The juvenile suspect was charged with one count of attempted 1st-degree murder. The juvenile suspect was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on October 10th, 2023.
On October 12th, 2023, The Lafayette Police Department Youth Services Investigators arrested a second juvenile suspect in connection with this shooting incident. The juvenile suspect was charged with one count of attempted 1st-degree murder and one count of illegal firearm possession by a juvenile. The juvenile suspect was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on October 12th, 2023.
This incident remains under investigation. An update shall be provided as more details are gathered.

LAFAYETTE, LA – On October 9, 2023, at 8:56 p.m., the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 100 block of Evelyn Drive regarding a shooting in progress. Upon arrival, one subject was located with an apparent gunshot wound to their person. This subject was transported to a local hospital and is listed as being in critical condition. While on-scene, Officers were notified of a second subject arriving at a local hospital with an apparent gunshot wound to their person. The second subject, suffering from a gunshot wound, is listed in critical condition. It should be noted that the second subject was transported to the hospital by an associate.
Investigators were called to the scene. Through investigative means, it was determined that the two subjects who were shot had agreed to meet up for an exchange. During the meeting, a disagreement occurred, which caused firearms to be brandished. An exchange of gunfire then ensued, ultimately leading to each party being struck by oncoming gunfire. Both subjects that are suffering from gunshot wounds are juveniles.
This incident remains under investigation, and arrests are expected to be made. An update shall be provided as more details are gathered.
