UPDATE: Shooting Investigation

Lafayette, LA – In regards to this morning’s shooting that occurred near the intersection of North University Avenue and West Willow Street.  The suspect responsible for shooting the victim has been arrested and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The suspect has been identified as Terry Joseph Jr, twenty-two, of Rayne, Louisiana. He was booked on a warrant for one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.  Unfortunately, the victim, Percy James Rochester Jr, thirty-nine, of Lafayette, Louisiana, had died from injuries sustained during the shooting.

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near the intersection of North University Avenue and West Willow Street. Lafayette Police were notified around 1:30 a.m. on October 31, 2023, and responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates shots were fired into the victim’s vehicle while traveling near that intersection. The victim was struck by gunfire. The victim was transported by private conveyance to a local hospital before the officers’ arrival. The victim is currently listed in critical condition. Detectives are on the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
