BROUSSARD, LA (Apr. 14, 2024) – On Sunday, April 14, 2024, at approximately 2:40 P.M., Officers with the Broussard Police Department responded to the 200 block of Longleaf Drive for the report of a shooting.
Upon officers’ arrival, they learned that a female subject had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she later was pronounced deceased. The victim was identified as April Rollins, thirty-nine years old.
The suspect, identified as Ronnie Simon, a forty-four-year-old black male, surrendered himself to the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office. Simon was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the charge of Second Degree Murder.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
