LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 4, 2023, 8:20 a.m.) – The female victim from the homicide incident on December 2, 2023, has been identified as Fredrika Stevens, forty-seven, of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Investigators have been actively working to develop leads as this incident remains under investigation. Any additional findings shall be provided with an updated release.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 2, 2023) – On December 2, 2023, just before 2:00 a.m., the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 300 block of Tenth Street after receiving reports of a shooting in progress. When officers arrived on the scene, one victim was at a residence. The female victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Officers began providing life-saving measures until paramedics arrived on the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital and died as a result of her injuries. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene and are actively working to develop leads. The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be provided when available.
