Update Fatal Traffic Crash at The City Bus Terminal

LAFAYETTE, LA – The victim in the fatal accident at the city bus terminal has been identified as Brian K. Thibodeaux, forty-four, of Lafayette, Louisianna. This crash is still under investigation with the Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Unit.

LAFAYETTE, LA (Mar. 31, 2024) – On March 31, 2024, at 01:58 a.m., The Lafayette Police Department responded to the City Bus Terminal located at 100 Lee Avenue in Lafayette, Louisiana, about a male lying unconsciously in the bus terminal’s lanes of travel.

Officers approached the area and located the male lying in the roadway. It appeared a charter bus had run over the victim. The bus was still on the scene, and driver #1 advised he was making the turn and saw something lying on the ground next to the side of the roadway. Driver #1 advised he did not know he had run over the victim until a passenger informed him.  Driver #1 was transported to the Lafayette Police Department, where he provided a voluntary breath sample of 0.000g%.

Several attempts were made to make a death notification to a family member but officers were met with negative results. The victim’s identity shall be released upon successful notification to his next of kin. This crash is still under investigation with the Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
