Lafayette Firefighters Responded to an Early Morning Fire

LAFAYETTE, LA (August 8, 2024) – Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Acorn Drive at 6:56 a.m. When firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the dwelling’s garage. The fire spread to the main dwelling along with a metal building with three cars inside. The home, building, and four cars sustained heavy fire damage. Firefighters battled the early morning fire for approximately 30 minutes before getting it under control.  

The occupants of the dwelling were not home at the time of the fire. They left for work around 5:00 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Lafayette fire investigators determined the fire originated in the garage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
