LAFAYETTE, LA (September 13, 2024) – Two students were arrested today in regards to two separate incidents involving threats to shooting up Comeaux High.

Yesterday evening our agency received information in connection to a threat that was made in a Comeaux High Snap Chat group. The student advised in the chat, “im wearing pajama pants and the shirt and if dey tell me smth im shooting up the skl.” Through further investigation our agency was able to locate the student responsible for putting the message out. An arrest was made on a twelve-year-old male on charges of one count of terrorizing and he was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.

The second incident occurred this morning around 8:30 am when a call came in to the Lafayette Police Department advising the following, “Im a shoot up Comeaux High”. A second investigation was started in reference to this phone call and as a result of this a second arrest was made on a fourteen-year-old female Comeaux High student for one count of terrorizing.

Lafayette Police Department wants the community to know that the students are always our highest priority and these threats are taken very seriously. We will work tirelessly to track down the people who make these threats. This is never a joking matter. Anyone who comes across threatening information about our schools is urged to report it to law enforcement.
