YOUNGSVILLE, LA (January 21, 2025) – The Youngsville Police Department has issued an URGENT Road Safety Alert.

EXTREME HAZARD: Black ice is forming on roadways as snow-compacted tire tracks freeze overnight. These conditions, combined with several inches of snow, are creating EXTREMELY DANGEROUS driving conditions with limited roadway visibility.

OVERNIGHT FREEZE WARNING: A deep freeze is forecast overnight. Areas where snow/sleet/ice has been melting today will refreeze after sunset. BRIDGES MAY BE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS.

SAFETY WARNING: Ice on roadways can cause immediate loss of vehicle control, resulting in crashes and serious injuries. There is NO SAFE WAY to drive on icy roads.

Youngsville Police Chief JP Broussard strongly urges residents to:

  • STAY OFF THE ROADS
  • Avoid “sightseeing” drives
  • Travel ONLY for emergencies

Emergency services remain operational. For emergencies, dial 911.
