BROUSSARD, LA (April 28, 2025) – The Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard (AVHG) is conducting a recruitment drive for new members to support its mission of serving the local military and veteran community by providing military burial honors, organizing flag events, and performing hospice pinnings.

A member must have a DD214, be able to stand at ease or attention for at least 15 minutes, and be able to carry an M1 Garand rifle, which is 9.5 pounds, for military honors.

For those interested in becoming a member of AVGH, you are invited to attend one of their monthly meetings at their new location at 414 East Main Street, Broussard, Louisiana. AVHG meets on the 1st Thursday of the month at 6:00 pm. Food is available at the meetings, so attendees should arrive early.
