YPD Officer of the Month – Cory Melancon

Youngsville, LA (May 8, 2026) – According to the Youngsville Police Department, Officer Cory Melancon has been named Officer of the Month.

Melancon began his law enforcement career in 2016 with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a corrections officer and member of the CERT Team at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

In 2019, Melancon joined the Youngsville Police Department and was assigned to patrol duties. In 2022, he became a school resource officer, working with students and faculty at ARCA while helping maintain campus safety.

According to YPD, Melancon’s dedication, professionalism and continued commitment to serving the community contributed to the recognition.
