Lafayette, LA (May 15, 2026) – The Lafayette Police Department is proud to partner with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission in a “Special Wave” enforcement endeavor, proactively looking for drivers and occupants not wearing safety belts while traveling on the roadway. This “Special Wave” is called “Click It or Ticket” and begins on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, and will conclude on Monday, June 1, 2026.
During this initiative, the Lafayette Police Department will be conducting high-visibility patrols within the city of Lafayette and will be issuing traffic citations to drivers and passengers found not to be wearing safety belts while the vehicle is being operated on a public roadway. The Lafayette Police Department thanks the public for their continued cooperation in this most important safety endeavor.
