Broussard, LA (May 12, 2026) – Broussard Charter Academy, the newest charter school in Lafayette Parish, is scheduled to open in August 2027. The school will be built on a property located on St. Nazaire Road and LaFlamme Road, near the Broussard Sports Complex at St. Julien Park. It will serve students in kindergarten through eighth grade under the management of CSUSA, a nationally recognized education management organization that currently runs 13 successful schools in Louisiana.

“We have received final confirmation for Broussard Charter Academy to be
established in our great city,” said Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque. “The school
will offer families a high-quality educational option at a state-of-the-art facility to educate our growing student population in Broussard.

Red Apple Development will build and CSUSA will manage Broussard Charter
Academy. It will serve approximately 900 students once fully enrolled, from
kindergarten through eighth grade. The school will not have an enrollment
restriction by school district and can accept students from across the region or state.

“This charter school will help students thrive academically and compete on a
global level,” said Mary Louella Riggs-Cook, board president of the Lafayette
Charter Foundation, the school’s governing board. “Our board would like to thank
the City of Broussard and Mayor Ray Bourque for their enthusiastic support of this meaningful and historic project. We look forward to working with our educational partner, CSUSA to make this our third successful school in Lafayette Parish.

Lafayette Charter Foundation, Inc., a Louisiana non-profit corporation, received
initial approval for a Type 2 charter school in Broussard from the Louisiana State
Board of Elementary and Secondary Education in 2024. Broussard Charter
Academy is the third school governed by Lafayette Charter Foundation and
managed by CSUSA in Lafayette Parish, joining Acadiana Renaissance Charter
Academy in Youngsville and Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy in Lafayette.

“CSUSA has an outstanding record of success across Louisiana,” said Mayor
Bourque. “They are fully committed to providing excellent academics to educate
future generations.”
