YOUNGSVILLE, LA (September 27, 2024) – Last evening, a group of concerned citizens held a Town Hall meeting for the candidates for Youngsville City Council Division D.

The organizers of the town hall meeting said all three candidates were invited to participate. However, only Logan Lannoo and Nick Niland participated in the meeting. According to the organizers, Todd Istre did not respond to the invitation.

The town hall meeting was structured as a questions-and-answers session rather than a debate, with questions coming from various sources, including organizers, the audience, and viewers on Facebook Live.

Non-Youngsville resident Jonathan Pearce was the moderator for the town hall meeting.

The election is November 5, 2024, with early voting from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. from October 18 through October 29, 2024 (excluding Sunday, October 20, and Sunday, October 27).

The questions were asked of the candidates:

  1. What is your understanding of the tax structure for the City of Youngsville and its uses?
    • Follow-up question: How do you see the City of Youngsville grow this tax base without increasing the tax rates?
  2. If there is a downturn in our economy, what would your plan be to address the loss in revenues?
  3. With the constraints of multi-jurisdictional roads and funding, what can be done to alleviate traffic congestion coming in and out of the City?
    • Follow-up question: In a perfect world, what would you do without the previous constraints?
  4. How do we balance the growth of the City of Youngsville and maintain the integrity of the Downtown Area?
  5. What is your understanding of your role as a City Council Member?
  6. With the rate of growth in the City of Youngsville, what are your thoughts on a different form of government that could include individually designated Council Districts?
  7. What is your 10-year strategic plan and goals for the City of Youngsville?
  8. Why do you feel you are the best candidate for this position?
