LAFAYETTE, LA (October 21, 2024) – La Fondation Louisiane is delighted to announce the 2024 edition of Franco-Fête, its annual French-themed luncheon fundraiser, to be held on Sunday, October 27, from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette. This event celebrates Louisiana’s French heritage and supports the Escadrille Louisiane French teacher scholarship program, along with other scholarships administered by the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL).

Since 2013, Franco-Fête has been instrumental in raising funds for scholarships that help Louisiana residents and local students to study French abroad and pursue teaching careers in French immersion programs across the state. This year’s event promises a memorable afternoon, featuring both a live and silent auction, a prestigious awards presentation, and the celebration of local French culture.

The Marquis de Lafayette Award 2024 will be presented to Conrad Comeaux for his exceptional contributions to preserving the French language and culture in our community. In addition, we are proud to induct Cecil J. Picard posthumously into the Fondation Louisiane Hall of Fame.

Notable attendees include the Consulate General of France in Louisiana, Consul General Rodolphe Sambou, along with local dignitaries, senators, and representatives who will join us in celebrating the ongoing connection between Louisiana and the French-speaking world.

Through partnerships with institutions in Belgium, Canada, and France, the Escadrille Louisiane program provides opportunities for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students—as well as teachers and young professionals—to study abroad.
