The following are updates from Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter on the Bayou Parc Perdu and LaSalle Coulee Drainage Projects.
These projects were previously reported on BY Local News LLC on February 10, 2023: Youngsville is Innovative on Drainage.
Bailey Grove Regional Detention Pond Project at Bayou Parc Perdu (Drainage Project)
From Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter:
“This is one of five regional drainage ponds over forty-three acres currently under construction along Bayou Parc Perdu (drainage coulee that drains majority of Youngsville). This particular site is located next to Fortune Hills subdivision at the confluence of Bayou Parc Perdu and the Anslem lateral. Once completed, this series of five ponds will significantly lower the base flood elevation by storing stormwater that would have otherwise topped the coulee’s banks into roads and in high intense rain events even homes. The dirt for this particular pond has been repurposed to build a new road, Fortune extension to Broussard, and the Fortune/89 roundabout.”

LaSalle Coulee Regional Retention Pond (Drainage Project)
From Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter:
“Just leaving the Lasalle Regional Drainage project on South Larriviere Road. Scope – Two regional drainage ponds on over twenty acres along the Lasalle coulee to store stormwater when it can’t drain downstream fast enough. This project is one of seven ponds, under construction in Youngsville today, that are 100% grant funded (design, land acquisition, and construction).”
“In addition to mitigating flood risk for homes, the days of South Larriviere underwater during/after rain events are numbered. When this drainage project is complete, the road will be reconstructed (raised and widened with a sidewalk). The road project is currently in design funded by another grant.”
