UPDATE
LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 26, 2023, 4:35 p.m.)– On December 25, 2023, at 12:23 p.m., patrol officers with The Lafayette Police Department responded to 2901 Johnston Street about a major crash where the driver was unresponsive. Preliminary investigation revealed that vehicle 1 entered the parking lot of 2901 Johnston Street (Regions Bank). Vehicle 1 struck several curbs and trees before resting at the south end of the Regions Bank parking lot. Driver 1 was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Lafayette General Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. This crash is currently under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department Traffic Unit.
The driver has been identified as Gerald L. Landry Jr., fifty-nine, of Youngsville, Louisiana.
LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 26, 2023) – Today, December 26, 2023, at 12:23 p.m., the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 2800 block of Johnston Street regarding a traffic crash.
Preliminary reports indicate that one motorist was unresponsive upon Officers arriving on scene. The unresponsive motorist later died. The Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Investigators were called out to the scene and established a crime scene.
The Traffic Investigators are currently working to determine the elements that led to the fatal crash occurring.
An update shall be provided as additional findings are made by Traffic Investigators.
