Lafayette, LA (Mar. 25, 2024 2:08 a.m.) – Regarding the homicide that occurred on March 24, 2024 in the 100 block of Harrison Drive, Lafayette Police Department’s Investigators have arrested the suspect responsible for the shooting, Jasyri Armon Hilliard, seventy-seven-year-old black male of St. Martinville, Louisiana.
This shooting happened as a result of a fight that had occurred between numerous subjects who were gathering in the 100 block of Harrison Drive. The suspect was arrested and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a warrant for one count of second-degree murder. The victim has been identified as Elzy James Cyprian, twenty-nine-year-old black male from Carencro, Louisiana.

LAFAYETTE, LA (Mar. 24, 2024 8:44 a.m.) – On March 24, 2024, at 4:24 am., The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) responded to the 100 block of Harrison Drive in Lafayette, Louisiana, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, LPD Officers observed an apparent crime scene. The victim of the shooting was transported to a local hospital by private means for medical treatment before the officers’ arrival. While receiving medical treatment, the victim died as a result of his injuries sustained during the shooting incident. A crime scene was established and LPD Investigators were called out.
LPD Investigators are on the scene, working diligently to piece together what occurred. This incident remains under investigation, so additional details will be released as they are determined.
