UPDATE July 3, 2023

On June 29, 2023, through further investigation, our detectives were able to identify a location where Mr. Duplechin’s body was possibly discarded.  Contact was made with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office regarding a possible location where Mr. Duplechin’s body may have been discarded within their jurisdiction. The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office located a body observed in the area provided to them.  Detectives and Crime Scene traveled to Pearl River County, where they took possession of the body and transported it back to Lafayette.  Crime Scene confirmed that the body located was identified as Randall Duplechin.

Update 2nd Suspect Arrested in Harrison County, Mississippi

Lafayette, LA – On 06/20/2023, The Lafayette Police Department, with the assistance of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi, arrested a second suspect in connection with this homicide investigation. The suspect is identified as one Milford Cumberland III, fifty-five years old, of Gulfport, Mississippi. Milford Cumberland III has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. Milford Cumberland III was booked into Harrison County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Lafayette, Louisiana.

At this point and time, the investigation into this homicide is ongoing. Investigators are actively following leads regarding locating the victim’s remains, identified as Randall Duplechin, sixty-five years old, of Lafayette, Louisiana.

The Lafayette Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in providing any information they may have regarding this incident. The Lafayette Police Department requests that any sightings of the two suspects following June 15, 2023, be reported to Lafayette Crime Stoppers or Lafayette Police Department.

The two suspects are Milford E. Cumberland III and Justin L. Webber.

Lafayette, LA – On 06/16/2023, The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) was contacted by Harrison County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi due to a subject currently in their custody for unrelated crimes to the following incident. The subject provided details to Harrison County Sheriff’s Office that he had committed a homicide at a residence in Lafayette, Louisana. Subsequently, the LPD conducted a welfare check at the residence, which was located in the 200 block of Leonie Street.

Upon arrival, Officers were able to locate evidence substantiating that a homicide did indeed occur. Investigators were called out to the scene and commenced an active homicide investigation. As a result, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for one count of 1st-degree murder for the subject in custody at Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. The subject, identified as Justin Lee Webber, forty years of age, has been booked into Harrison County Sheriff’s Office jail for 1st-degree murder. Justin Lee Webber is pending extradition back to Lafayette, La.

The victim in this incident has been identified as Randall Duplechin, a sixty-five-year-old male from Lafayette, Louisiana.
