LPD Investigate Shooting Involving Juvenile Victim

Lafayette, LA –  On May 23, 2023, shortly after 7:15 P.M., Lafayette Police responded to the area of Louisiana Avenue at Tenth Street about a report of a shooting in progress. When officers arrived, they located a male juvenile victim (14 years of age) suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his upper body. Through further investigation, it was learned that the male juvenile victim was a passenger inside a vehicle that was traveling through the area when the shooting occurred. The juvenile victim was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover fully. Currently, there is no available suspect information.
