LAFAYETTE, LA (October 8, 2024) – On October 2, 2024, while conducting a joint operation with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Louisiana State Police, Lafayette Police Department Narcotics Agents seized approximately one kilo of fentanyl and arrested one suspect involved in the trafficking of said narcotics.

The arrest occurred on the 100 block of Gentilly Road, where the suspect attempted to flee. The suspect was apprehended without further incident, and 960 grams of hard-pressed fentanyl was recovered.
The suspect was identified as Huey K. Jones from Katy, Texas. The street value of the narcotics seized is estimated to be $384,000.00.
