Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police are on the scene of a major vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred on the 100 block of E. Pont Des Mouton Road just after 3:26 a.m. Prior to the accident occurring we received calls into the station in reference to a man lying in the roadway. Shortly after receiving information the pedestrian was run over by a vehicle. The pedestrian a (42) year old male was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. A Fusus camera in the area showed that the pedestrian walked into the roadway of the 100 block of E. Pont Des Mouton Road and laid down. After laying down in the roadway he was struck by a vehicle.
The 100 block of E. Pont Des Mouton Road at the intersection of I 49 northbound off ramp is closed at this time. Vehicles should avoid the area and seek an alternate route.
