From Lafayette Utilities System

LAFAYETTE, LA– A State of Emergency has been declared by both the State of Louisiana and the Parish of Lafayette. Drought conditions have caused a record number of excessive heat warnings, stress on the abilities of water systems, and an increasing threat of wildfires.

For clarification, there is no moratorium on watering, but customers are to follow LUS’s Water Conservation Ordinance watering schedule. Additionally, we request that customers go above and beyond the Water Conservation Ordinance guidelines and limit or eliminate lawn watering, car washing, and filling of swimming pools. This will assist in stabilizing water systems throughout Lafayette Parish.

Please do your part to help conserve water for yourself, your family, and our community. For more information, go to www.lus.org/water-ordinance.

LUS Mission Statement: As a publicly owned utilities system, we provide high-quality, competitively priced services that exceed our customers’ expectations and contribute to the Consolidated Government to support other community needs.
