This oak tree is the Lastrapes Seven Brothers’ Oak tree which is reported to have been planted in 1809. The story of the tree is that it grew from seven seedlings that were all put in one hole and forgotten about.

The seven seedlings were said to have been purchased to represent each of Jean Henri Lastrapes’s seven sons.

The tree is on land that was owned by Lastrapes and is located on Highway 182 between Opelousas and Washington, Louisiana.
