Vehicle Fatality in the 3500 Block of E. Simcoe Street

Lafayette, LA – In regards to this morning’s major vehicle crash. The victim has been identified as, Andrew Leblanc 72, of Houston, TX.

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police are on the scene of a major vehicle crash involving a single vehicle. The crash occurred at 12:24 am, in the 3500 block of E. Simcoe Street. We received the call from a resident at around 7:01 am in reference to a vehicle present in their yard demolished. Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound on E. Simcoe Street. The vehicle for unknown reasons left the roadway and veered off of the roadway striking several trees and rolled over at least twice before coming to rest in a resident’s yard. The driver of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle pronounced dead on scene. The driver’s information will be released once the death notification is made.
The Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Division is currently on scene and the investigation is ongoing. We are asking motorists to avoid the area while our traffic investigators conduct their investigation.
